Host it here.
SlopHost runs Unix and Windows hosting on machines we own, in a building we can drive to. What is on them is printed below in full, with version numbers, because that is the only part of a hosting page anybody reads.
| Component | Version | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Server | ||
| Apache | 1.3.26 | We are staying on the 1.3 line. 2.0 is out and the modules we run in production are not ready for it. When they are, we will move, and not before. |
| mod_ssl / OpenSSL | 2.8.10 / 0.9.6g | Certificate on a dedicated address. |
| IIS | 5.0 | Windows 2000 Server. |
| Languages | ||
| PHP | 4.2.3 | register_globals is off by default from 4.2.0. If a script of yours stopped reading its own form in the spring, that is why, and we are not turning it back on. |
| Perl | 5.8.0 | With mod_perl 1.27 for anything that has to be quick. |
| Python | 2.2.1 | CGI, or mod_python on request. |
| ColdFusion MX | 6.0 | Macromedia rewrote it in Java this year. Most CFML does not notice. The parts that do notice, notice loudly. |
| ASP.NET | 1.0 | Windows 2000 and IIS 5.0. Classic ASP stays where it is. |
| Database | ||
| MySQL | 3.23.49 | Production. |
| MySQL | 4.0 | Beta pool, on request. Still no subqueries, so write the temporary table. |
| phpMyAdmin | 2.3.0 | Linked from the control panel. |
| Control panel | ||
| cPanel with WHM | 6 | Or Console. Console remains available to accounts created before 2000 and is scheduled for retirement next year. |
| Plesk | 5 and 6 | 5 stays on the machines whose owners have not asked to move. |
| Ensim Pro | 3.1 | Reseller machines. |
| Helm | 3 | Windows accounts. |
| Fantastico | since February | Deployed in February. Puts a forum, a gallery or Movable Type into a directory without anyone touching a shell, and is the most used item on this page. |
| SpamAssassin | 2.43 | It tags, it does not delete. The rules file is yours. |
| Mailman | 2.0.13 | Majordomo is gone. |
| Webmail | IMP 3.1 | In every account since 1998. It will not be turned into a separate annual subscription in July, or in any other month. |
Web servicesA SOAP interface to account provisioning is in limited release. It is documented, it is versioned, and so far its main consumer is our own billing system. |
StandardsThis page is XHTML 1.0 Transitional and it validates. Underneath it are two tables holding columns apart and one that is genuinely a table, which is a better ratio than we managed in the spring. |
